Emily was born in New York City and lived there until she was two,
spending the majority of her formative years in Phoenix, Arizona. Though she sometimes wishes she was truly “East Coast,” she is really a Southwest girl who knows that there’s nothing better than watching an Arizona sunset while eating a bean and potato burrito.
Emily has been trying to integrate her love of the Church and her feminist ideals all her life by earning a Masters in Theological Studies, working as an interfaith chaplain, and accepting any calling her bishop gives her (but she hasn’t been asked to do Scouts yet, so that may change).
She believes in the healing that comes as individuals share their spiritual narratives and learns much from these accounts. She feels honored to be working on the paper with one of her favorite friends, Aimee Hickman, as they continue Exponent II’s mission of creating a safe environment for all women who identify themselves as Mormon to share their faith, concerns, and dreams.
